Such a simple yet great concept for a shop, can't believe i haven't found one like it in melbourne yet. Delicious food, lovely customer service.
Cheap for a small serve ($14 for small plate of lamb roast & a bit less for chicken/beef). "Small" is a pretty generous serve. Corner location & it is a compact no frills sort of eatery. Been here a few times. Friendly service. Quality of roast can be variable with 3 veg (peas, tatties & mini carrots) but overall pretty good for the price. There are salads & sweets on offer which have not tempted me!
Nice roasts here. You get a choice of pork, lamb, chicken or beef. I opted for the roast lamb with mint jelly and gravy in a small meal. My mother got the roast beef. You get carvery the old fashioned way here with peas, baby carrots and a choice of roasted or scalloped potatoes. Nothing overly fancy which is not a bad thing these days. Very tasty gravy. Some nice looking dessert options. We had a chocolate mousse and it was nice, very chocolatey and not too sickly sweet. To top it off we had very good service. I don't live in Ballarat, but have to say that it was good country service here. I will be back when next in Ballarat.
