BEAUTIFULLY MAINTAINED EXAMPLE OF THE RAILWAY ERAThis station was built over a century ago when trains were the only transport option for intercity travel. It is a grand old building with high ceilings (to accommodate the stream trains and the huge plumes of smoke they generated.Still retains an old step bridge across the platforms.

Apparently they won't accept tap and pay at all, who carries cash these days?

Very pleasant and picturesque train station conveniently located near Sturt St and walking distance to the art gallery and museum. Very quaint platform cafe with good options.

Good place to go if you want to hop on a train - 5 stars. If you dont need a train I wouldnt probably go there however. Keep up the good work with the trains

Ballarat Railway Precinct is without peer in Australia. It has the most elegant train hall in the land, and the largest goods shed on the Trunk Lines..all this irrespective of its situation in a most extraordinary historic streetscape. Rarely if ever do the factors imparting cultural value come together as they do in this part of Lydiard Street North. Architectural and railway historian Andrew Ward 2017.
