We love the library and we really appreciate the caring staff who work there. Thanks for providing such a brilliant collection, particularly for our kids, whose love of reading is strongly connected to several library initiatives to invite young people into this cultural hub which enriches the lives of Ballarat's residents on so many levels. It's a lovely spot where everyone is welcome.
All Children should feel welcomed no matter what. Can't believe the library would go so low as to ban access with Children in care and there families. All Children need library's more so one's that are in care.
Literally the worst library I have ever set foot in. I gave it five chances before swearing today to never go back. It's always ridiculously loud; children running everywhere screaming, tinkering with the piano (!??) in the middle of the room. The entire building seems designed to amplify noise instead of dampen it. Not to mention, the books on the shelves are often not where they're supposed to be, and the range of books for a town the size of Ballarat is abysmal. It might be a different story if you're using the space for web access or study, but if you're looking for a library to supply you with new books to read for enjoyment, don't bother.
Clean library, however can be more of a day care/cafe then the usual type of libraries. There's a play area for kids that's not sectioned off, there is a piano inside and people do play it, and people eating snacks all the time.If you're looking for absolute serenity, this is not the place to go. But if you like a bit off stimulus so studying doesn't feel lonely, it's a nice alternative to Starbucks.
